This month’s reads - October
I only able to fit in 3 book reads this month. Mainly because I disliked one so much that it took me forever to read it. But, on the plus side... I started an amazing trilogy at the end of the month!
This Month’s reads - September
I unfortunately did not hit my monthly reading goal in the month of September due to us traveling to Greece for 2 weeks. I however did get to squeeze in 3 great books in the mists of all the travel chaos, thanks to 22 hour travel days!
This Month’s Reads - August
I have officially jumped on the band wagon of romance novel reading, and I can officially say that I am obsessed. It has been such a nice escape to take some time to myself each night after the kids go to bed and read. I recently bought a Kindle which I am also in love with.
Our Kitchen Gadgets
Let’s talk kitchen gadgets and appliances! It was important to me that my kitchen was well thought out and included everything I needed if I was already spending the money to renovate it. I searched through Pinterest religiously for inspiration photos and ideas for different components of the kitchen.
Our Kitchen Renovation
When we first moved into this house at the end of 2020, this kitchen was the death of me. It was very old and very grungy. So old in fact, that the hood range was from the 60’s and the fridge was from the late 80’s.
My Son’s Nursery Design
For this space, I had two designs in mind. Dark and bold or clean and calm. Take a guess on which one I went with? Although I love the look of vertical board and batten, I felt like it’s becoming a little over done and wanted to do something different. The horizontal boards gave the room texture while giving me the clean and clam look I wanted, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
Simple Cherry Tomato Pasta
This simple Cherry Tomato Pasta is one of my favorite go-to easy meals for a weeknight dinner. I typically have majority of these ingredients on hand in my pantry and fridge which is always an extra bonus for super easy cooking. It is quick to throw together, and the family always loves it. Did I mention is makes great leftovers? If you try this recipe out, be sure to leave a comment. Or you can post it on Instagram and tag me! (@daniellemsheppard)
Cilantro-Lime Chicken Tacos w/ Mexican Corn Relish
Who doesn’t love a good street taco? This recipe is a good ole comfort food recipe that is great for a summer night of entertaining. These easy to assemble tacos are hearty and flavorful and totally a crowd favorite.
Crockpot BBQ Pineapple Pulled Pork Sliders
All things YES when it comes to these Pulled Pork Sliders. The yummy-goodness of these savory and sweet sliders are my new go-to dish to bring to parties. They are super easy to make and a great option to serve for a large party.
HOW TO: Modern Farmhouse Playhouse
For my daughter’s 2nd birthday, my husband and I decided to get her a playhouse for the backyard. I’ve seen a lot pictures on Instagram of people jazzing up different standard playhouses to match their esthetic and home. So obviously, I totally wanted to do it too!
Bacon Collard Greens
I am so excited to be sharing this recipe with yall today! Growing up in the Midwest, eating collard greens wasn’t very common. But in my 20’s I had collard greens at a restaurant and was hooked. I started looking up different recipes and molding them to my likings. Now, 7 years later, I finally mastered my own recipe.
Easy Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas
Today I’m sharing my go-to recipe for Quick and Easy Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitasthat I have been making for a couple years now. This recipe is perfect for the working mom or dad that’s exhausted from a long day and just needs a quick, semi-healthy meal for their family.

Joanna Gaines' Family Chili
Ya’ll seem to love the Joanna Gaines’ recipe reviews, so I’ve decided to do another first impression review on her recipe for Gaines’ Family Chili out of her first cookbook, Magnolia Table. I’m not going to lie to you, if you have read my other reviews from this cookbook, you’d probably see that I haven’t been too big of a fan of this cookbook. With that being said, I was a little hesitant about trying another new recipe (and so was my husband). But what the heck, what could go wrong with chili?
Chrissy Teigen's Chicken & Dumplings
These chicken and dumplings are to die for! Making the broth from scratch and letting it simmer for hours really takes this dish to another level of flavor. I wouldn’t classify this dish as being incredibly hard. The only tricky part (for me at least) was when it came to the dumplings and not over cooking them. Don’t worry, I’ll give you tips and tricks along the way to ensure yours will turn out fabulous!
Chrissy Teigen's Beef Stew & Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes
Oooooo girl, this recipe for Sleep Time Stew by Chrissy Teigen is one of my all time favorite comfort meals! This recipe is out of Chrissy’s second cookbook called Cravings: Hungry for More, which I would totally recommend buying. It’s delicious, hearty and totally fulfilling for a cozy family dinner.
Ayesha Curry's Shrimp & Grits
I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and shrimp & grits was not a common meal to be found. A couple years ago, I stumbled across this recipe by Ayesha Curry and it blew me away. It is extremely easy to make and is jam-packed with flavor.
Chrissy Teigen's Chicken Pot Pie Soup
When I was making this Chicken Pot Pie Soup by Chrissy Teigen for this post, my mom happened to be in town. This was her first time trying it and she almost had a melt down because of how good this soup is.
